ELIZABETH, NJ - The Summit Free Public Library (SFPL) is among 20 public, municipal libraries selected to receive a 2018 Union County Library award. The SFPL will receive $3,750 that will enable its youth services department to support several programs for children including the enhancement of the 'Book Buddies' program, a series of empowerment workshops for teens, a concert series for preschoolers, and visits from two bestselling authors.
The 2018 Library Grants are funded by non-tax dollars through the Union County Kids Recreation Trust Fund.
Each of the 20 municipalities with a public library applied for a 2018 Library Grant and received an identical $3,750 award. In addition to Summit, the recipients are: Berkeley Heights, Clark, Cranford, Elizabeth, Fanwood, Garwood, Hillside, Kenilworth, Linden, Mountainside, New Providence, Plainfield, Rahway, Roselle, Roselle Park, Scotch Plains, Springfield, Union and Westfield.
