SUMMIT, NJ - In a teleconference held March 23, the Summit Lions Club Board of Trustees unanimously approved a one-time $3,000 allocation from its Endowment Fund to help needy local residents during the coronavirus pandemic. The allocation will be directed towards the Junior League of Summit’s GRACE Program, which purchases food and household supplies -- such as toilet paper, cleaning supplies, and toiletries -- for more than 175 local households.

Last week alone, GRACE served 783 individuals, which included many senior citizens as well as more than 200 children.

In making the allocation, the Summit Lions Club Board said. "We would like to thank our many individuals, small local businesses and corporate sponsors for their support of our mission and our annual activities. This support allows us to provide over $18,000 annually to our community in service of our mission of aiding those in need, especially those with sight problems. It gives us great pleasure and pride to approve this “above and beyond” allocation during this great time of need."
