SUMMIT, NJ - The Summit Park Line Foundation will host a 'First Steps' walking tour of the Summit Park Line June 2, from 9 - 11 a.m. The event will begin at the entrance to the Park Line in the parking lot across from Salerno Duane.
Members of the community are invited to explore the phase one Park Line trail -- which will make a linear park connection between Broad Street and Morris Avenue with a view of the New York City skyline in the distance -- and learn more about the project. Parking will be available on Broad Street and in the Broad Street municipal garage.
As conceptualized by the Park Line Foundation, which is collecting private funding to pay for the project, the Park Line will convert an abandoned rail line right-of-way stretching from Briant Park through the central business district to a public park, walkways and nature areas while offering a view of the Manhattan skyline.
The Summit Park Line is envisioned as similar to the Highline in New York City.
