SUMMIT, NJ - Less than a week after dozens of Hilltop City residents and dignitaries -- including Alan Lieber, President of Overlook Medical Center  -- toured Phase One of the Summit Park Line, the organization founded to promote and support the initiative will be hosting a fundraising event to continue the momentum.

Hosted by the Summit Park Line Foundation, the June 8 'Rooftop Cocktail Party' at 1 DeForest Avenue will, from 6:30 - 9 p.m., feature cocktails, music, and hors d'oeuvres. Tickets, priced starting at $125 / person, are available by visiting

The fundraiser follows a successful 'First Steps' walking tour on June 2, an event that began at the entrance to the Park Line in the parking lot across from Salerno Duane, and which saw members of the community explore the initial phase of the Park Line trail and learn more about the project. When completed, the Park Line will make a linear park connection between Broad Street and Morris Avenue with a view of the New York City skyline in the distance.

Envisioned as similar in concept to the Highline in New York City, the Park Line project converts an abandoned rail line right-of-way stretching from Briant Park through the central business district to a public park, walkways and nature areas.
