The Summit Police Department is proud to introduce Officer Ryan Stanek as its newest certified DARE officer. Officer Stanek joined the Police Department in 2007 and is shown here following his graduation from an intense two-week DARE training course at the Bergen County Police and Fire Academy. Officer Stanek will serve as the Department’s 5th grade DARE officer and will provide students with weekly interaction with a certified, trained DARE officer.
This represents the 18th year of the DARE program in Summit’s schools. With its emphasis on resistance to drugs, alcohol and violence, the DARE program seeks to use fun and educational material to foster awareness of the personal and social consequences of substance abuse and violence. DARE’s partnership between schools, local law enforcement, parents and other community groups provides one of the most effective preventive programs available.
For questions regarding the DARE program, please contact Juvenile Detective Matthew Buntin at 908-273-5871.
