SUMMIT, NJ - The deadline to register to vote in the November 3 general election is October 13, and residents can register to vote at the Summit City Clerk’s Office, located on the second floor of City Hall, at 512 Springfield Avenue.

In order to accommodate last minute registrants, the City Clerk’s Office has scheduled evening voter registration hours on October 13 from 4:30 - 9 p.m.  Regular voter registration hours are 8:30 a.m. -  4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

“Voting is an opportunity for citizens to have a voice in our community,” said City Clerk Rosemary Licatese. “It is an important way to have a say in the issues that impact us all in Summit.” Licatese noted residents must be registered no less than 21 days in advance of an election to be eligible to vote.

Citizens of the United States that are 18 years of age on or before the date of the election, and a resident of New Jersey and Union County for no less than 30 days, are eligible to vote. Voter registration applications may be obtained from Union County’s official website at ucnj.org/county-clerk/elections.
