SUMMIT, NJ - SAGE Eldercare recently honored four volunteers -- Summit's Christine Galiardo, Marie Francois of Elizabeth, Cynthia Orsini of Florham Park and Kaitlyn Szot of Chatham -- at its annual meeting hosted on the Morris Avenue campus of Celgene. Approximately 300 volunteers annually assist the services and programs at SAGE, which itself was started by a group of volunteers in the 1950’s and continues to thrive 65 years later in large part due to continuous volunteer support.
“We are appreciative and thankful for all of our volunteers, past and present” said Angela Sullivan. “They are the heart and soul of SAGE and make the work we do possible.”
Summit resident Christine Galiardo was bestowed the Bob Abelson Carry the Torch Award for her 20 years of service with Meals on Wheels and the long running list of organizations she donates time to throughout the community.
Thirty-year caregiver veteran Marie Francois of Elizabeth, received the Home Health Aide of the Year Award for, among other things, her ability to make clients feel special and heard.
The Agnes N. Badgley Award was given to Cynthia Orsini of Florham Park for the many years she has devoted to both the development office and Meals on Wheels.
Sixteen-year-old Kaitlyn Szot of Chatham received the newly named Ben Zukoff Outstanding Youth Award for her service to SAGE in helping with, in part, fundraising and community events.
