Summit's Beacon UU Installs Ministers, Executive Director Apr. 2

SUMMIT, NJ - A trio of individuals will be installed and affirmed in a ceremony for the ministers and executive director of Beacon Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Summit April 2, beginning at 4 p.m.

At the ceremony, Reverend Robin Tanner will be installed as Minister of Worship and Outreach and Reverend Emilie Boggis will be installed as Minister of Congregational Life. Both have been called by the congregation. Tuli Patel will be affirmed as executive director. All three serve as members of a co-equal leadership team.

Reverend Peter Morales, president of the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA), is expected to attend, along with UUA moderator Jim Key, chief governance officer for the Association. Reverend Cheryl M. Walker, minister of the UU Fellowship of Wilmington, North Carolina, will preach.

Beacon UU’s morning services and family ministry programs will take place as usual at 9:30 and 11:15 a.m.

To accommodate the full congregation and the larger community in one service, the celebration will be held at Congregation Ohr Shalom, located at 67 Kent Place Boulevard. Following the ceremony, those attending are invited to a reception at Beacon UU, located at 4 Waldron Avenue.

Beacon UU was formerly known as The Unitarian Church in Summit. Their mission is "to be a radically inclusive religious community that feeds the human spirit and heals the world." Beacon is a member congregation of the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations.

Summit’s interfaith community and the public are invited to attend both events. The reception at Beacon is expected to begin around 5:45 p.m.
