Summit's Family Aquatic Center Opens Memorial Day Weekend

The Summit Family Aquatic Center, known as the "City's hottest place to cool off!" is ready to open for the 2010 season on Saturday, May 29, 2010.

Memorial Day Weekend traditionally marks the start of the summer season at Summit's fabulous aquatic center. Nestled in a grove of trees, this beautiful pool complex hosts an 50 meter L shaped pool and a Family Leisure Pool complete with a 17' serpentine slide, 10' drop slide, diving board and interactive children's equipment. The Main Pool has a zero depth ramp entry for ease of entry for members of all ages and those with impairments. The Family Leisure Pool has geysers, pools & falls, pipe falls and lots of fun for the younger set and their parents. Looking for a thrill? Kids of all ages that have good swimming ability can ride one of two slides. A winding fast flume ride dumps into the Main Pool while better swimmers can take the plunge down the drop slide.

The Summit Family Aquatic Center is not just about swimming. There is a full calendar of entertainment including parties, dances. Library Story Time and concerts. "Mr. Fun" will lead new games on various days, maj johngg lessons, swimming lessons, Summit Sharks Swim Team, Senior AquaCise are all offered. Swim instruction is held at Sharkey's Swim School where children 5 and older can learn to swim. This year, adult swim lessons are being offered and Sharkey Swim School PM for both kids and adults has been added.

Summit residency is required, however members can bring guests on a daily basis for a fee. Splash and Learn activities are held that includes local organizations that provide free educational opportunities to include yoga, health, environmental issues, first aid, dance and more. The facility opens for weekends only until the week of June 21st. Monday, June 21st and Tuesday, June 22nd the Family Aquatic Center will be open from 4-8 PM. No pool hours on Wednesday, June 23rd for SHS Graduation. The full season begins on Thursday, June 24th at 12 Noon.

01/01/2018 9:26 am     FD dispatched to a motor vehicle accident, car vs. pole in front of 196 GLENSIDE AVENUE.  On arrival occupant was out of the vehicle.  Summit EMS assumed patient contact. FD made notification to the power company to make repairs.  Summit PD remained on scene for traffic control and road closure until repairs were made.
