MORRISTOWN, NJ - Summit's Jordan Glatt, the former two-term mayor of the Hilltop City, has joined The Community Foundation of New Jersey (CFNJ) in the role of director of strategic partnerships as the Foundation looks to extend their relationships with New Jersey corporations, entrepreneurs, and families designed to help those organizations and individuals create long-term impact in their communities.

Since 1979, individuals and businesses have opened charitable funds at the CFNJ to fulfill their charitable goals and craft their philanthropic legacies. These Legacy Funds and Donor Advised Funds have granted tens of millions of dollars each year, and enabled the Foundation to launch its own Changemaker Projects that are improving New Jersey and its dynamic communities. The Foundation’s funds currently hold over $400 million in charitable assets and made over 5,000 grants last year to charitable work in New Jersey and around the world.

Glatt has both a corporate and civic background, most recently coming from Free All Media, a social media start-up, where he is chief marketing officer and serves on its Board of Directors. He was, for the last 18 years, the president and CEO of Magla Products, a $90 million household consumer products company. During his tenure, he restructured Magla from a largely domestic manufacturing company selling under its own brand, to a Far East-based manufacturing enterprise marketing under some of the country’s most iconic brands.

“Jordan brings to the Foundation the ability to create unique partnerships that benefit both the businesses behind them and the communities in which they are located,” said Hans Dekker, President of CFNJ.  “At Magla, for example, he located a manufacturing facility within a maximum security prison in order to teach job skills and help with the re-entry process.”

Glatt's two terms as mayor of Summit featured him dealing with challenges that included the aftermath of Hurricane Irene to the loss of power to / at a hospital. He launched the Mayor’s Partnership for Technology in Summit public schools and founded First Night. He previously served as an at-large councilman in the town.

“We are very happy to welcome Jordan to the team and look forward to his particular expertise in creating public-private partnerships designed to make communities stronger,” said Tom Uhlman, Chairman of the CFNJ Board of Trustees.  “In his time as mayor, Jordan was able to bring the City of Summit, the business community and its nonprofits together around economic development, business retention, health services, recreation, and transportation.”

Glatt serves on the Wofford College Board of Trustees and was previously a member of the New Jersey Economic Growth Council and the vice chairman of the New Jersey Gaming and Horse Racing Commission. He was the New Jersey president of the Young President’s Organization (YPO) and has served on the boards of the International Housewares Association and Students in Free Enterprise.

“The Community Foundation is an incredibly valuable civic asset for our state,” said Glatt.  “I look forward to working with philanthropic families and businesses to address some of our communities’ most important issues.”

Glatt graduated from Drew University where he was also a trustee, and participated in YPO’s “Presidents Executive Education” at Harvard Business School.
