LIVINGSTON, NJ - Lynn and Jeffrey Altschuler have been recognized for their "leadership and generosity" by the Jewish Vocational Service of MetroWest New Jersey (JVS) at its 'Taste & Toast' gala. The event is held annually to recognize local community leaders who provide vital support that enables the Livingston and East Orange-based nonprofit organization to fulfill its mission of “Helping People Help Themselves.”

The gala broke both attendance and fundraising records by attracting more than 300 attendees and generating over $400,000 in corporate sponsorships and charitable donations.

In addition, more than $25,000 was raised during the event itself -- and matched, dollar-for-dollar, by presenting sponsor Valley National Bank -- to acquire and operate a van that will transport JVS clients to and from internships and volunteer positions at businesses and community-based organizations located throughout Essex County.

Each year, JVS provides more than 2,000 people with the tools and training necessary to help them secure and maintain gainful employment. The organization's diverse clientele includes immigrants and refugees; adults with physical, mental and developmental disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder; military veterans; and job-seekers, including recent college graduates and adults 50+ looking to make a career transition.
