SUMMIT, NJ - One suspect is under arrest and another is sill being sought in the January 4 armed robbery of a Summit liquor store.
Darrell Mitchell, 45, of Westfield has been arrested by the Summit Police Department in connection with the robbery of Morris Avenue Liquors at 512 Morris Avenue. A second suspect involved in the crime has not yet been apprehended.
The robbery occurred at approximately 8:44 p.m. on January 4, when two masked suspects entered the store and confronted the store employee. One of the suspects, later identified as Darrell Mitchell, held the employee at gunpoint as the second suspect emptied the cash register. The two suspects then exited the store and ran northeast on Lafayette Avenue.

During the investigation, detectives identified Darrell Mitchell as one the suspects.
At approximately 4 a.m. on January 5, Summit Police Detectives -- along with officers from the Westfield Police Department -- executed a superior court search warrant at Mitchell’s home located on the 400 block of Downer Street in Westfield. Police located and placed Mitchell into custody without incident. During the search of Mitchell’s home and vehicle, detectives recovered evidence believed to link him to the robbery.
Mitchell was charged with robbery and was transported to the Union County Jail where he was held pending a bail hearing.
