JERSEY CITY, NJ - Senior Chris Tarashuk tripled home two runs, and senior captain Matt Reddy scattered eight hits while going the distance as the 10th-seeded Summit High School Varsity Baseball Team opened the NJSIAA North 2, Group 3 Tournament by banking seventh-seeded Ferris, 5-0.

Tarashuk had two hits and senior captain Justin Weiss, classmate Emory Carlson and junior Will Hellings all had RBIs. Reddy struck out six and walked just two while throwing 105 pitches over seven innings. Three Hilltopper runs in the top of the third were more than enough to win the day.

Summit, now 14-8 on the season, advances to face second-seeded Nutley on the road May 23. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
