Persevering through a three-month season of games and practices played in weather that offered a 60-degree swing in temperatures and enduring most things Mother Nature -- and the opposition -- could throw at them, the 7th / 8th Grade Summit Junior Baseball 'Terrapins' emerged as champs.
The 'Terps', coached by volunteer dads father Rick Hauer and Todd Engmann, held off team Clemson in a best-of-three series to secure the victory. For many of the boys, the weekend's win marked the end of a nine-year career playing in the SJBS League.
The Summit Junior Baseball and Softball's Suburban Leagues serve more than 1,000 students in the Summit community ranging in age from kindergarten through 8th grade.
