Firefighter Bill Murphy’s last day was Friday, September 1st. He served the City of Summit for 35 years. We were fortunate that Bill lived locally and was always willing to assist on calls when off duty. He was a career Firefighter that always put the City first.
At a time when public employees are criticized in the press I would like to highlight this wonderful man. Unlike other towns, Summit does not allow banking of sick days. Bill took precious few over the span of his career. Over the years he forfeited well over a years worth of sick time.
Firefighter Bill was the favorite cook for the crew. He was often in charge of cooking the meals at the Firehouse. The good news is that we may find Bill behind the stove at the Towne Deli where his son is a co-owner.
Thanks for all your years of service.
