SUMMIT, NJ - The United Methodist Church of Summit, located on 'the point' of Kent Place Boulevard and DeForest Avenue is celebrating its 150th Anniversary in 2017.
September 11, 2017 will mark the formal anniversary of the Methodist congregation "sharing God’s love" in Summit. Throughout its 150 years, the congregation has "shared God’s love" through worship, education, mission and fellowship activities. The Church's intergenerational and multicultural family invites everyone to join in our many ministries!
The original church, built in 1867, was located on Morris Avenue between Summit and Beauvoir Avenues. In 1889 the cornerstone was laid for the present church at 17 Kent Place Boulevard.
The United Methodist Church is celebrating this special occasion throughout the year. Guest preachers from years past are just one of our ways the Church has and will celebrate. On September 17, 2017 there will be a gala brunch at The Summit Grand Hotel.
Past members or those baptized or married at the church are encourage to join in the year-long celebration.
