Try The Y This Summer! - Open & Free To The Public Thursdays & Fridays


From now through the end of August, the Summit Area YMCA welcomes all adults and seniors to use the Summit YMCA and Berkeley Heights YMCA facilities for free on select days of the week! As strong proponents for improving wellness for all, the Summit Area YMCA is dedicated to strengthening each individual in mind, body and spirit in order to support the foundations of a strong community.

The Berkeley Heights YMCA is currently open to all with its facilities every Thursday this summer through the end of August 2016. Try any number of high energy, fun group exercise classes ranging from our popular Les Mills Body Pump, Cardio Blast, or All Terrain Cycling. For a more gentle, yet still challenging work out, try Barre Sculpt—or relax with Gentle Yoga, Balance Strength and Coordination, and more.

Similarly, the Summit YMCA will be open and free to the public each Friday until the end of August. Friday group exercise offerings include Les Mills Body Pump, Les Mills GRIT, Indoor Rowing, Hot Primal Yoga, Barre Sculpt, Vinyasa Yoga, and Ai-Chi to name a few. In addition to group exercise, the Y provides a state-of-the-art Wellness and Fitness Centers, 2 pools, gymnasium with full sized basketball court, rock wall, and more!

Adults over the age of 18 will be able to use the facility for the day’s entirety after signing in with the Member Services Desk at their designated branch. Photo identification and a signed guest waiver are required to gain access to the facility.

In addition, have an afternoon of splish splashin' fun at the Berkeley Heights Community Pool at the YMCA. Bring the family or come with friends with a day guest pass at a discounted rate of $20 per person any day!

Your children will love our swim team, swimming, basketball and tennis lessons. Come enjoy our adult early bird swim at 7:00 am, or just relax on our beautiful grounds.  Our facility includes a full service snack bar, onsite basketball and tennis courts, tetherball, horseshoes and shuffleboard courts, as well as daily activities for all ages.  For more information, please visit

Summit Police Blotter

May 29, 2018

5/15 - Sean M. Reidy, 52, of Summit was arrested on a contempt of court warrant out of Summit. Mr. Reidy was able to post bail and released with a pending court date.

5/18 - At 1615 hours a report was taken for a theft from a Springfield Avenue business. The incident occurred at approximately 1031 hours when a white female entered the business and removed a blue Ramy Brook Blouse from a rack.
