SUMMIT, NJ - The Summit Playhouse will present the classic American musical "Bye Bye Birdie" July 27 - August 5. Based on a book by Michael Stewart, lyrics by Lee Adams and music by Charles Strouse, performances of "Bye Bye Birdie" will take place July 27, 28, August 3 and 4 at 7:30 p.m., and matinees July 29 and August 5 at 2 p.m.
It's the 1960s, Army-bound rock star Conrad Birdie is the talk of the town, and All-American girl Kim MacAfee is chosen for a very public farewell kiss before his departure. Kids, parents, and 'show biz' people hilariously collide as Sweet Apple, OH, prepares for the big event.
With two Broadway runs -- the original production won four Tony Awards, including 'Best Musical', in 1961 -- and a hit motion picture with Dick Van Dyke reprising his award-winning Broadway performance, the classic musical is a fun time for the whole family.
The production is directed by John Ertman, with music direction by Natalie Pereira and choreography by Lara Gavagan. Tickets are available by visiting byebyebirdie.brownpapertickets.com. For more information, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Summit Playhouse is located at 10 New England Avenue.
