SUMMIT, NJ - Junior defensive back / running back Tyrone Hines and sophomore defensive back / running back Joe Lusardi have been selected as the Salerno Duane Summit Football Players of the Game for their contributions in the Hilltoppers 55-30 win over North Plainfield.

The Salerno Duane Summit Football Player of the Game Award is collaboration between Salerno Duane Jeep Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram of Summit and TAPinto Summit which, after each Summit High School Varsity Football game through the end of the season, will honor one or more players -- as designated by the coaching staff -- for his / their performance(s).

Hines delivered the brightest game-changing moment when he hustled, making up 15-plus yards to track down the North Plainfield quarterback from behind as he was racing to the end zone, not only preventing the score but causing a fumble with his diving tackle inside the Summit five-yard-line which the Hilltoppers recovered. Electrified, Summit scored on the ensuing 98-yard drive and went on to ice the game with two more third quarter scores, one of which was a 23-yard run by Hines himself.

Summit is now 5-2 heading into their October 27 match-up at Rahway.
