The Unitarian Church in Summit is sponsoring a full-day Jesus Workshop Saturday, March 9, to explore the life and teaching of the historical Jesus and the development of early Christianity.

The workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the church, 4 Waldron Ave. (at Springfield Ave.) in Summit. The program is free and open to the public. Lunch is included. Registration is limited to 20 and is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Two facilitators from the congregation will lead the program, using an interactive group format. No particular background or knowledge is required, and the workshop is open to people from any spiritual background or religious conviction.

Discussion will center on significant archeological findings over the past 70 years, including new writings from the centuries after Jesus died as well as more traditional texts. In addition, there will be an opportunity to relate this information to one's own spiritual journey.
