SUMMIT, NJ - Many veterans often are unaware of all the benefits they have earned, and veteran benefits have changed over the years, depending on when a person served in the armed forces. The enrollment process can also, at times, be confusing.
Lindsey Street Post 322 of The American Legion is inviting all veterans -- and those who care for them -- to "An Evening About Veteran Benefits and How to Access Them," April 30 at The Grand Summit Hotel.
Whether a veteran, or someone who lives with or cares for a veteran, it is important to know the full range of benefits earned.
Beginning at 7 p.m., a representative of the Veterans Administration, who specializes in describing veteran benefits for veterans of all ages, will explain the differing entitlements for veterans over the years and answer questions about veteran benefits.
Education, job training, disability compensation, health care (including prescription drugs, eyeglasses and hearing aids), pensions, and burial benefits are among the wide range of veteran benefits available.
American Legion Veteran Service Officers will be available after the presentation to answer questions and help begin the benefit application process.
