SUMMIT, NJ - The Art Center has opened up an extra week of Art Camp -- "Creative Exploration Intensive" -- for kids 5-15 focused on individualized creative exploration. The innovative week will focus on the creative cycle, emphasizing how each child can do creative, investigative work at home and school.

Children and teens of all skill levels will explore, create and refine ideas inspired by the work of exhibiting artist Jill Kerwick. Her current show, Lipstick and Other Stories will be studied, interpreted, and discussed, launching students into guided creative exploration.
Students will work in multiple studios, allowing for freedom of expression and artistic development at their own pace. Instructors will be posted in studios, prepared to support daily groups with core instruction and encourage development of ideas and inspiration.

“After seeing the exuberant work happening in the summer camps, I knew our community’s children were ready for an open format intensive. We designed this session to encourage students to find his/her own way into a concept within a supportive, guided atmosphere,” said Libby Clarke, the Art Center’s recently-appointed Studio School Director.

The Creative Exploration Intensive will run Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m., August 29 through September 2. Early drop off is available, at 8:30 a.m., for an additional fee.
To register, visit, call 908-273-9121, or in person at the Art Center at 68 Elm Street.
