SUMMIT, NJ - Strong performances in myriad sports helped propel Summit High School to the 2014-15 ShopRite Cup Group III crown.
 
The Keasbey, NJ-based grocer has sponsored the award since 2004, with six cups -- one per group -- awarded at the conclusion of competition for Fall, Winter, and Spring sports based on most points earned during state championship competition. A school's General Classification is used to determine its group designation for the competition.
 
The Hilltoppers totaled 67 points, with strong finishes in:

- Girls Field Hockey, Tied for third
- Girls Lacrosse - First
- Boys Cross Country - First
- Boys Football - Tied for third in North Jersey Section II
- Boys Swimming - Tied for third
- Boys Lacrosse - First
- Boys Tennis - Second
 
Summit also earned an additional six points for having no disqualifications in the Winter and Spring Seasons, which proved decisive as they edged second-place Northern Highlands by a single point.
 
In Group B, Oak Knoll earned 113 points to win, with points doubled in the single-gender category. The Royals scored well in soccer, tennis, field hockey, swimming, and indoor track, plus earned an additional nine points for having no disqualifications in the Fall, Winter, and Spring Seasons.
