SUMMIT, NJ - The ice, cold, and snow that accompanied Summit Winter 2014-15 will result in construction activity at Franklin and Jefferson Elementary Schools beginning earlier in the morning.

In order to continue moving forward and stay on schedule for final completion, contractors at both locations are starting work prior to the start of the school day in order to receive deliveries on-site and set up for the day's work.

District administrators acknowledge that this may pose an inconvenience to some residents, however state that it is necessary in order to prevent extended delays, and make up for time lost due to this season's inclement weather.

The projects, which began on June 26, 2014, are expected to be complete in September 2015.  They are part of a $17 million district-wide renovation plan, approved by the Board of School Estimate during the 2012-‐2013 school year, that includes additions to Franklin and Jefferson Elementary Schools, new science labs and an auditorium restoration project at Lawton C. Johnson Summit Middle School, and a new boiler at Summit High School.
