For the good of Summit we implore you to stop politicking in the current election. It is a breach of ethics, good moral standards, and decorum for our mayor to take political jabs at any candidate on this year's ballot.
While under oath to uphold the Law, your 2015 victory bestows no right to turn the Mayor's Office into a vehicle to meddle in 2017 campaigns.
Public records show you've donated towards favorite local Democrats. Nothing wrong with that. But to then leverage your office by publicly criticizing opposing candidates (including letters written on mayoral stationery) is improper. No judge can sit on a case where he / she has funded one of the plaintiffs.
For the good of this community please desist. Avoid even the appearance of favoritism in your role as Mayor, or in any situation where such role could be deemed ambiguous.
Political rules of engagement (settled years ago by City Administrator and both political party Chairmen) permit "personal appearances" at public events like 5K Run, SHS football games, Farmers Market, Train Station. As long as all props are removed the instant a candidate leaves the scene.
