I first met John Dougherty 15 years ago, two years after moving to Summit. We met in a Summit café where I was on the serving staff and he came so often for lunch. He usually wore his police officer uniform. He was friendly and engaging. Since I was a new resident in Summit, it was reassuring to me that a Summit police officer gave me such a strong, personal feeling of safety.
Over the years Mr. Dougherty rose to the rank of Captain. One of the key responsibilities was to be in charge of the traffic division. Attention to safe traffic in Summit is so important. I value his work ethic, and I do believe he has the best interest of the Summit Community.
I encourage the resident of Ward 1 to vote for John Dougherty on Tuesday November 7.
