SUMMIT, NJ - The New Jersey State Department of Health has notified the City of Summit of two new cases of COVID-19 in Summit.

After going 13 days with just one new case, Summit has seen four new cases in the past four days - one each on August 31 and September 1 and the pair of new patients on September 3.

The Westfield Regional Health Department reports of recent cases in the month of August 2020, 57% of cases are age 23 or younger, eight cases had no known exposure, four cases did not respond to contact tracing calls, one case had a household contact test positive, and one patient traveled to a high risk area.

  • Three were under the age of 18
  • Five were age 19 to 24
  • Two were age 40 to 44
  • One was age 45 to 49
  • One was age 50 to 54
  • Two were age 55 to 59

The total number of COVID-19 cases in Summit since the pandemic began now stands at 237.
