04/21 - Waleed N. Wheeler, 18, of Newark was arrested and charged with eluding a law enforcement officer, aggravated assault with serious bodily injuring while fleeing, unlawful taking of property. Mr. Wheeler was subsequently transported to the Union County Jail pending a court appearance. 

04/21 - Deante N. Brown, 20, of Newark was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with serious bodily injury while fleeing and unlawful taking of property. Mr. Brown was released with a pending court date. 

04/22 - At 0803 hours a report was taken for burglary to three (3) unsecured motor vehicles that were parked in the driveway to a Gloucester Road residence. The victim reported the incident occurred between 1730 hours on 04/21 and 0530 hours on 04/22. At the time of the report, it appeared the only item to be missing was 1-$1.00 bill, however all three (3) vehicles had been rummaged through.

04/22 - At 0847 hours a report was taken for a burglary to an unsecured motor vehicle parked in the driveway to a Gloucester Road residence. The victim reported the incident occurred between 1830 hours on 04/19 and 0847 hours on 04/22. At the time of the report there appeared to be nothing missing from the vehicle. 

04/22 - At 0856 hours a report was taken for a burglary to an unsecured motor vehicle parked in the driveway to a Gloucester Road residence. The victim reported the incident had occurred sometime between the afternoon hours of 04/20 and 0856 hours on 04/22. At the time of the report it appeared nothing had been removed from the vehicle. 

04/22 - At 0914 hours a report was taken for a burglary to an unsecured motor vehicle parked in the driveway to a Gloucester Road residence. The victim reported the incident occurred between 04/19 and 0914 hours on 04/22. At the time of the report it appeared nothing had been removed from the vehicle. 

04/22 - At 1455 hours a report was taken for a burglary to an unsecured motor vehicle that had been parked in the driveway to a Little Wolf Road residence. The victim reported the incident occurred between the afternoon hours of 04/20 and 1455 hours on 04/22. At the time of the report it appeared nothing had been removed from the vehicle. 

04/22 - At 1557 hours a report was taken for a burglary to an unsecured motor vehicle parked in the driveway to an Ashland Road residence. The victim reported the incident occurred between 1600 hours on 04/21 and 1200 hours on 04/22. At the time of the report it appeared nothing had been removed from the vehicle. 

04/22 - At 1857 hours a report was taken for a burglary to an unsecured motor vehicle parked in the driveway to a Drum Hill Drive residence. The victim reported the incident occurred between 1900 hours on 04/21 and 1857 hours on 04/22. At the time of the report it appeared nothing had been removed from the vehicle. 

04/23 - At 1428 hours a report was taken for a burglary to an unsecured motor vehicle parked in the driveway to a Portland Road residence. The victim reported the incident occurred between 1630 hours on 04/20 and 1400 hours on 04/23. At the time of the report it appeared nothing had been removed from the vehicle. 

04/24 - At 1647 hours a report was taken for a burglary to two (2) unsecured motor vehicles parked in the driveway to a Dale Drive residence. The victim reported the incident occurred between 2200 hours on 04/19 and 1643 hours on 04/24. At the time of the report, although rummaged through, nothing appeared to have been removed from either vehicle. 

04/25 - At 0843 hours a report was taken for a theft of plants from a Springfield Avenue business. The victim reported the incident had occurred over the course of approximately one (1) week when an unknown individual(s) was removing yellow plants from the property. At the time of the report, the total value of the stolen plants was approximately $120.00. 

04/26 - At 0712 hours a report was taken for a burglary to a Woodland Avenue church. The victim reported the incident occurred in an unknown time frame, but within the prior few days. Entry had been gained through an unsecured door to the building. At the time of the report, the only item noted to have been stolen was a flute, silver in color, approximately 34” in length and had been stored in a black instrumental case. Accordingly to the victim, at the time of the report, the flute was valued at approximately $1,500.00. 

05/03 - At 1130 hours a report was taken for a theft of signs from a Springfield Avenue residence. The victim reported all three (3) incidents occurred on separate dates since January, with the most recent being 05/02. Taken were two (2) “For Rent” signs and one (1) “For Sale” sign. At the time of the report, the total value of the signs was approximately $270.00. 

05/07 - At 1642 hours a report was taken for a theft of packages from an Orchard Street residence. The incident occurred at 1633 hours when a tall, slender, black male wearing a light blue surgical style mask, a gray zippered hoodie, black sweat pants with a red Nike logo and black sneakers walked to the victim’s front porch and removed three (3) packages. Taken were one (1) 1.5oz. container of Kutol Health Guard hand sanitizer and five (5) 19oz. cans of Lysol disinfectant spray. Total value of the stolen items was approximately $53.18. 

05/08 - At 0117 hours a report was taken for a theft of two (2) motor vehicles from a Beverly Road residence where both vehicles had been left unsecure, with the key fobs inside. At the time of the report, the combined value of the cars was approximately $20,000.00. 

05/08 - At 0818 hours a report was taken for a stolen motor vehicle from a residence on Harvey Court. The vehicle, a BMW, had been left unsecured with the key fob inside and was utilized in a string of burglaries in another jurisdiction. The victim had no knowledge of the vehicle missing, until patrol officers contacted them. Inside of the stolen vehicle were miscellaneous clothing items, shoes, and electronic devices. The total value of the stolen items was approximately $8,210.00. The value of the vehicle at the time of the theft was not available. 

05/11 - Garrett Torre, 42, of Newark was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats and possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose. Mr. Torre was processed and subsequently transported to the Union County Jail where custody was turned over to their officers. 

05/11 - At 0940 hours a report was taken for a stolen motor vehicle from a Brainerd Road residence. The vehicle, a Mercedes-Benz, had been left unsecured with the key fob inside of the vehicle. According to the victim, the vehicle was last seen at 0600 hours on this date parked on Brainerd Road. The vehicle was recovered by Newark Police Department. 

05/12 - At 1225 hours a report was taken for a stolen motor vehicle that had been parked in an Essex Road driveway, unsecured, with the key fob inside. The incident occurred between 1000 hours and 1200 hours on this date. Stolen was a silver 2019 BMW 530i valued at approximately $53,000.00.
