Landmark Trees of Summit -- Revisited

The Friends of the Summit Free Public Library, in conjunction with the City of Summit Shade Tree Advisory Committee, invite the public to a slide show and discussion of the "Landmark Trees of Summit - Revisited" as part of the City's 2018 Arbor Day celebrations. The presentation has been updated and expanded from the popular 2014 program on the same topic.

In the four short years since our last presentation, our tree population has been heavily impacted by storms, development, infestations, and other factors. John Linson, City Forester for Summit, and Marc Montefusco, Director of Horticulture for the Reeves-Reed Arboretum, will lead the program. They will discuss what constitutes a "landmark" tree, the City's efforts to identify and preserve such specimens, and factors threatening their survival. They will take attendees on a slide show tour of the ever-changing list of remarkable and historic trees in Summit, as well as revisit some that we have lost.

After the program, attendees will have the chance to speak with Mr. Linson, Mr. Montefusco, and members of the Shade Tree Advisory Committee at a reception hosted by the Friends of the Summit Free Public Library

Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man Kid

I am an artist.  It says so on my T-shirt.

My colorful shirt, which significantly inflates my position in life, confers great status.  For one, it announces that I am a musical performer at the up and coming Montclair Jazz Festival.  This separates me from the thousands of other festival goers who only get to enjoy a great day of music, not play it.

More importantly, ...
