UN Administrator to Speak at Breakfast

Lauren Canning, of the United Nations Development Programme, will discuss "The United Nations: Changing with the Times" at a Book Review Breakfast to be held on Monday, October 16. She will also review the book - Chasing Chaos, by Jessica Alexander, who writes of her experiences as a humanitarian aid worker. The event will be held at Lile Hall of Christ Church, 561 Springfield Avenue, Summit, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.

Ms. Canning has worked worldwide with the UN for 28 years, and currently selects and supports the UN's Resident Coordinators in the developing world. The program is free and open to the public. Continental breakfast will be provided. This program is sponsored by the Summit College Club Branch of the American Association of University Women which promotes equity for all women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy, and research. Important and effective UN Goals focus on the empowerment of women and the education of girls which allow communities to prosper.
