Update on the Achievement Gap?

February 18, 2020

At the last Board of Education meeting on 2/13/2020, I asked the board how it defines the achievement gap. I also asked if there was a game plan since no “Education Committee” reports in recent memory had alluded to any definitive plans for this chronic problem.

Not a single board member had an answer, and they all deferred to our outgoing superintendent, which tells me that they, ...

2020 Real Estate Outlook Promising as Spring Market Approaches

Slow and steady will be the name of the game in the new decade. All reports indicate that 2020 will be a positive year in real estate.

With a surge in consumer spending towards the end of 2019 the economy remains on a steady path. Healthy consumer spending is a sign of consumer confidence. Coupled with low unemployment rates and low mortgage rates will contribute to economic growth.

The Adults in the Room

My house was recently designated as being “teen free”.

This is because my youngest two children just turned 20. They are twins. They are both in college, away from home. I only physically see them when they come home on breaks.

Turning 20 means they have run out of youthful brand names. After spending a lifetime transitioning from infants to toddlers to kids to tweens to teens ...
