SUMMIT, NJ - Six Summit individuals -- A. Jude Avelino, Amy C. Burke, MaryBeth Driscoll, Kim Fox, Kiera Mathey and Pete Pardo - have joined the Summit Educational Foundation (SEF) Board of Trustees replacing Amy D’Andrea, Jeff Giroux, Julie Kimmel, Irene Murdock, Christine Murray and Beth Sharpe, all of whom are leaving the Board after many years of service.

The SEF is a private 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to maintain and enhance the high quality of a Summit public school education through community funding of innovative and essential educational programs, a close working relationship with the school District, and careful review, evaluation and financial oversight of supported initiatives.

Since the fall of 2010, the SEF has awarded nearly $4 million in grants.

The new Board members are:

A. Jude Avelino - Father of four, graduate of Georgetown Law and local attorney at Avelino& Hartlaub, LLP. He co-chaired fundraising efforts for the Summit Community Center and serves as an Overlook Foundation Trustee. He has resided with his wife Patty in Summit for 15 years.  

Amy C. Burke - A former Wall Street banker with a degree in finance from SUNY Albany. She has lived in Summit for 23 years while raising her three children, and has volunteered for a variety of PTO positions, Girl Scout, Cub Scout and SMPApositions, participated in several school theater productions and has served on the SEF Grants Committees for many years. 

MaryBeth Driscoll - Mother of four and a Villanova Nursing graduate. She has served on BraytonPTO and SWLABoards and SEF Grants and Events committees as well as co-Chair of High School Parent Social events. She and her husband Chris have been in Summit for 16 years.  

Kim Fox - Mother of two young children and active volunteer supporting local education and sports activities, including most recently chairing the SEF 'Spring for Excellence' fundraiser. She is a senior healthcare communications executive with Johnson & Johnson and sits on the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association Global Board of Directors.  

Kiera Mathey - Mother of three young children and attorney for Johnson & Johnson. She recently chaired the SEF 'Spring for Excellence' fundraiser, is incoming PTO co-President for BraytonSchool and legal counsel for Summit Soccer Club. 

Pete Pardo; Father of four daughters and a Partner at Deloitte for more than 15 years. He is an Emeritus Trustee of Summit Area YMCA and a member of St. Teresa’s Finance Council.
