SUMMIT, NJ - The Connection will host a food drive to benefit the Community FoodBank of New Jersey (CFBNJ) in an effort to supplement relief as the food bank’s needs have increased due to the recent government shutdown. While the government has now reopened for three weeks, many neighbors remain vulnerable, and The Connection will continue to provide support to those in need.
The onset of the food drive coincides with The Connection’s 'Summer Camp Open House' on Sunday, January 27, and donations will be accepted through Sunday, February 3, in the Front Lobby of The Connection, which is located on 79 Maple Street.
The Community Food Bank of New Jersey has expressed the need for the following items:
- canned tuna, salmon, spam, chicken and ham
- shelf stable milk
- macaroni and cheese
- canned chili, stews, meaty soups, fruits and vegetables
- peanut butter
- diapers, and feminine hygiene products.
No glass, cellophane, bottled water, soda or baby food, please.
The Connection will continue to waive a month of membership dues for current members who work for the Federal Government, and extend a complimentary month to non-members. For further information, ontact Lauren Nisenson at firstname.lastname@example.org.
