SUMMIT, NJ - Since launching an effort to help those who make it their mission to help others, the GoFundMe page originated by Summit's Other Fellow First Foundation has -- when factoring in the Foundation's $25,000 pledge -- now exceeded $48,000.
The initiative benefits:
SAGE Eldercare's 'Meals on Wheels' program - which provides a vital link to many of the community's vulnerable elderly members.
Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad - which is always there when needed. The Squad has many needs right now, and is making the best of a tough situation.
Summit's food assistance programs (GRACE, SHIP, Loaves & Fishes) - which fight food insecurity in the community need support now more than ever.
While grateful for the impressive amount raised to date, the Foundation is asking the community to re-double its efforts and remember the following:
1. We may not be able to control the Coronavirus. However, we can control how we respond to it. Adversity does not build character, it reveals it. You live in a very caring commUNITY.
2. Count your blessings.
3. Do something selfless for the needy, it will make you feel better.
The Other Fellow First Foundation's Board of Directions further asks the Hilltop City community to draw inspiration from the words of Winston Churchill who, on June 18, 1940, said:
"The Battle of Britain is about to begin. Upon this battle depends the survival of Christian civilization," he warned. "Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duty and so bear ourselves that, if the British empire and its Commonwealth last for a thousand years, men will still say: 'This was their finest hour'."
