SUMMIT, NJ - Raising funds that will have a direct benefit to individuals through youth scholarships for the AfterSchool program, dance, gymnastic teams, supporting of special needs aquatics classes and the English as a Second Language program, the Connection raised more than $12,000 on 'Giving Tuesday' (#GivingTuesday).
By surpassing their goal for the third straight year, The Connection will be enabled to offer scholarships to enable children and adults with financial need to participate in all its programs.
A global day of giving fueled by the power of social media, #GivingTuesday promotes the generosity of people who wish to make a difference in their community. Celebrated on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving -- immediately on the heels of 'Black Friday' and 'Cyber Monday', #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable giving season.
“Participating in #GivingTuesday is a natural fit for The Connection,” said Wendy Graeb, The Connection's Executive Director. “The day is about showcasing people who make a real difference, and what they can accomplish when they come together. And no one epitomizes “community” like Connection members and friends.”
The Connection is a nonprofit organization in Summit that prides itself on being a place where everyone can participate and feel welcome. Their programs bring together individuals from all backgrounds and abilities, creating a community where everyone can feel “connected.” Donors make this possible with their support on #GivingTuesday and throughout the year.
