SUMMIT, NJ - City of Summit offices will be closed on Wednesday, December 25 and Wednesday, January 1, 2020. These days are parking holidays in Summit with no fees required for on-street parking or in municipal lots and garages. 

Household garbage is collected on all major holidays, if the holiday falls on a regular pickup day. 

The City of Summit Transfer Station will be closed on Wednesday, December 25 and on Wednesday, January 1, 2020.

Curbside pickup of Christmas trees will begin on Thursday, December 26 and will continue through Friday, January 24, 2020. Trees must have all decorations removed and be placed at the curb. Residents are asked not to put trees in plastic bags. Wreaths are not collected curbside with trees. Residents may dispose of wreaths with household trash or at the Transfer Station in the upper level trash pits. 

The next 'Dial-a-Truck' pickup for bulky items is scheduled for January 2, 2020. To schedule a pick-up, call 908-273-6404. A limited number of spaces are available. 

Office hours for Mayor Nora Radest are canceled on Wednesday, December 25, Thursday, December 26, and Wednesday, January 1. In 2020, Mayor Radest will hold office hours on Wednesday mornings from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and on Thursdays mornings from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.. Summit Free Public Library

The Summit Free Public Library will close early -- at 1 p.m. -- on Tuesday, December 24 and will be closed on Wednesday, December 25 for Christmas.

Regular Library hours are Mondays through Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Fridays and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.;  and 1 - 5 p.m. on Sundays. 

The drive-up Book drops located by the Cedar Street exit are open 24/7 for the return of all materials, including magazines, videos and compact discs.  No overdue fines are charged for days when the Library is closed.
