SUMMIT, NJ - Sections of River Road in Summit will be closed for milling work from November 8-9 and November 12, from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. the following morning. The original schedule for the project had called for closures for eight nights beginning October 25, subject to weather conditions.
Work will begin on the portions of River Road closest to Route 24 and proceed toward Passaic Avenue and the Chatham border. Emergency vehicles will be provided access at all times, and motorists are advised to plan an alternate route.
A clearly marked detour route will be established and maintained by County forces. Access to residences, including deliveries and other services, will be allowed as much as possible. Parking will be prohibited on River Road within the work zone during the operation
The County of Union has not yet provided the City of Summit with a paving plan / schedule.
