SUMMIT, NJ - The Westfield Regional Health Department has informed the City of Summit of the first confirmed case of COVID-19 in the Hilltop City.

The patient is a 49-year-old male resident who tested positive for the virus, and is recovering at home. All members of the family are self-quarantined.

It was reported on March 15 that Summit's first COVID-19 case -- a male, age 50-plus -- had been confirmed, but later that report was amended to note the patent was actually a resident of Madison.

Earlier today, the Summit Public School District announced that one of its District Office staff members has tested positive for the coronavirus.
