SUMMIT, NJ - Stating that it is the organization's goal "to do its part to 'flatten the curve' related to the spread" of the coronavirus (COVID-19), Summit Area YMCA President & Chief Executive Officer Paul Kieltyka announced that -- effective March 16 -- all Summit Area YMCA facilities will close through March 29.

Kieltyka added that, "To our knowledge, while no member or staff at our facilities has tested positive for COVID-19, we believe that continuing to operate and run programming during this time would be counterproductive to the protective social distancing measures that have prompted area schools and municipal offices to temporarily close in response to COVID-19."

The closure is planned for two weeks, with members updated no later than March 29 regarding the status of facilities and programming from that point forward.

During this two-week period The Y will be doing a deep sanitizing clean.
