SUMMIT, NJ - The Connection is inviting dancers of all skill levels (ages 10+) to a free 'Broadway Jazz Masterclass' on November 23, from 1 -3 p.m. Participants will brush up on their technique and learn new engaging choreography with New York City-based theater dance professional Shelly Hutchinson.
Hutchinson is a choreographer, dancer, actress, and producer who has served as choreographer for 'So You Think You Can Dance' Europe, on creative teams in operas such as Candide, Samson & Delilah, Aida, 'NYC Fashion Week' and Disney’s High School Musical. Her television appearances include MTV, CBS, ABC, Saturday Night Live, Law & Order, and HBO. Performing credits Radio City Music Hall, Warner Brothers Films, Off-Broadway/Regional Theatre, National/European Tours. On faculty at Broadway Dance Center, Joffrey Ballet School and Peridance, and she was nominated for Outstanding Choreography for 'Occasion For Sin' as part of Planet Connections Theater Festivity.
Open to the public, the workshop is made possible by funds from the Union County Office of Cultural & Heritage Affairs, a partner of the New Jersey State Council on the Arts. Those participating should be prepared to move and wear comfortable clothes. No dance experience is required.
