SUMMIT, NJ - Led by Hemadri Saxena, The Connection will host a free 'Bollywood Dance Workshop' on Sunday, June 23, from 3 - 4:40 p.m. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn and explore the distinctively upbeat and funky Bollywood Dance -- a mixture of belly dancing, Kathak, Indian Folk, and jazz dance -- popularized by India’s film industry.
Born and raised in India. Saxena is an Automation Engineer by profession, but a dancer by passion. She believes dance is not about achieving perfection, it is about enjoyment.
“If you enjoy your dance and do it with your whole heart and dedication, to me that is perfection,” she says. “Just dance for yourself, as if no one is watching, and I am sure magic will happen.”
The Workshop, free and open to the public age 13+, for dancers of all levels. Space is limited, with registration available by visiting The Connection front desk, calling 908-273-4242, or contacting firstname.lastname@example.org.
The workshop -- which is made possible by funds from the Union County Office of Cultural & Heritage Affairs, a partner of the New Jersey State Council on the Arts -- is just one of many opportunities at The Connection for those who love to dance.
