Grant Benefits Thrift Shop

The Investors Foundation has presented the JLS with a $1,000 grant toward the Junior League of Summit Thrift Shop’s recent basement expansion, a project that created additional storage space for donations received by the Shop.

“As the amount of donations has increased each year, the shop reached its storage capacity. With the completion of the dig out, it will give the shop more space to store donations throughout the year. The revenue generated from the shop will go back into the community through grants and scholarships,” says JLS Thrift Shop Chair, Stephanie Giblin.

The basement expansion is officially complete and the Thrift Shop accepts donations on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; Thursdays, from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Saturdays, from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. each week.

Established 85 years ago, the Junior League of Summit Thrift Shop offers new and gently used clothing and shoes for men, women and children, toys, decorative items for the home, housewares, and furniture that is deeply discounted. It is the primary fundraiser for the Junior League of Summit and has provided the resources for the League’s grants, projects, programs, and scholarships over the years. Since its inception, the Shop has raised more than $3 million to benefit Summit and surrounding communities.
