SUMMIT, NJ - In the first stage of what will eventually lead to its reopening, the Summit Free Public Library will open its book drops for materials return beginning June 14, with the Library asking the public to follow a staggered schedule when making returns.

Give that more than 11,000 items are currently checked out -- including books, DVDs, Books on CD and other materials -- the Library has established the following schedule specific to patrons' last names:

A -E -- Sunday, June 14

F-J -- Monday, June 15

K-O -- Tuesday, June 16

P-T -- Wednesday, June 17

U-Z -- Thursday, June 18

All materials collected in the book drops will be placed under a 72-hour quarantine, following American Library Association guidelines. Patrons should also check DVD and Books on CD cases to make sure DVDs and CDs are inside.
