SUMMIT, NJ - Giving a joyful nod to Ireland and the luck o' the Irish, the Summit Free Public Library will welcome several events over the month leading up to St. Patrick's Day.
Irish eyes are sure to be smiling on March 8 when Ian Gallagher performs traditional Irish folk music from 2 - 3 p.m. Gallagher's heart and soul are deeply rooted in Irish tradition, and he will entertain with his classic flair for Irish storytelling mixed with traditional -- and a wee bit of contemporary -- Irish folk tunes.
Storyteller Jeslyn Wheeless will present ‘Shamrocks and Blarney Stones’ for children in grades K-5 on March 12, from 4 - 5 p.m. The program will feature Irish step dancers from the Heritage Irish Dance Company, who will entertain and amaze with their quick and precise step movements.
The events culminate in a performance of ‘Irish Jigs and Reels’ featuring the talented St. Joseph’s Irish Band on March 15, from 2 - 3 p.m. The high school students have entertained Summit Library patrons for a number of years with their fiddles, harp, and tin whistles. Members of the Heritage Irish Dance Company will appear as well.
