SUMMIT, NJ - Summit Free Public Library card holders can now access the on-demand film streaming service Kanopy for free. Films can be streamed from any computer, television, mobile device or platform by downloading the Kanopy app for iOS, Android, AppleTV, Chromecast, or Roku.
Library patrons can access Kanopy and sign up to start streaming films by visiting summitlibrary.kanopy.com.
Kanopy offers what the New York Times referred to as “a garden of cinematic delights,” showcasing more than 30,000 of the world’s best films, including award-winning documentaries, rare and hard-to-find film festival favorites, indie and classic films, as well as foreign films. Kanopy also offers a collection of 'The Great Courses'. Through 'Kanopy Kids', patrons can access television shows and movies for children.
With the motto “thoughtful entertainment,” Kanopy provides Summit Free Public Library patrons with access to films of unique social and cultural value as well as films that are often difficult or impossible to access elsewhere. The service's availability coincides with The Summit Free Public Library's 'Library Card Sign-Up Month', underscoring the relevance of having a library card that connects patrons to invaluable resources that enrich their lives.
Patrons who have questions about how to access Kanopy can visit the library’s Information Desk. Those interested in signing up for a Library card should visit the library with identification proving proof of residency. Employees of Summit businesses are also entitled to a Summit Free Public Library card by bringing a recent pay stub showing employment.
