SUMMIT, NJ - The Show must go on.
That legendary show business phrase is being applied by The Summit Playhouse which is, despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and related restrictions, continuing to stage entertaining events.
'Songs of the Shutdown' combined some of The Summit Playhouse’s finest young talent in a musical theatre cabaret. More than 150 folks recently gathered on the Summit Village Green to enjoy a wide array of songs from everyone’s favorite musicals. Matt Green, director, and music director, Kyle Cao, brought a bit of Broadway to a socially-distanced atmosphere.
The Playhouse also hosted its first Summit Playhouse 'Bake-Off', a writing exercise held within a 48-hour period wherein a list of ingredients inspires people to create a piece of theatre. The 'Bake-Off' received 44 scripts, which were whittled down to five for the live presentation.
