SUMMIT, NJ - Raising funds for its ongoing programming that helps individuals experiencing homelessness, Summit-based Bridges Outreach -- true to its DNA -- will take to the streets, this time for fun and competitive 5K Run and Walk and a 1-Mile Kid's Fun and Walk, both set for September 28 rain or shine.
Beginning with registration and check-in on Summit's Village Green starting at 8 a.m., the event features pre- and post-race activities and music from DJ Qua. The race begins at 9 a.m. and a 1-mile Kid's Fun Run / Walk gets underway at 9:10 a.m.
The USATF NJ-certified course begins on Maple Street -- between the Village Green and the Summit YMCA -- and finishes at the Village Green.
All participants registered prior to September 1 will receive a commemorative event T-shirts and post-race refreshments, during which time an awards ceremony will take place on the Village Green.
Registration fees are $25 for the $5K events and $20 for the 1-Mile Fun Run / Walk. To sign-up, visit classy.org/event/2019-bridges-outreach. When registering, individuals can also create a fundraising team or join an existing one.

Founded in 1988, Bridges Outreach reaches out to the homeless in New York City, Newark, Irvington, and Summit every week. More than 2,000 volunteers each year help deliver 65,000 meals, seasonal clothing, and necessities without question and with genuine respect.
