SUMMIT, NJ - The Summit Free Public Library's annual Holiday Food Drive to help ‘'check out’ hunger' is underway, with donations benefiting Summit Helping its People (SHIP).

Through December 16, the Library is collecting non-perishable food items, with the most urgently needed including canned meat and fish; canned soups and stews; peanut butter (in plastic jars); boxed pasta and rice; powdered milk; infant formula; canned vegetables and fruits.

Items can be dropped off at a collection box located in front of the library’s Circulation Desk.

The annual Holiday Food Drive is sponsored by the Libraries of Union County Consortium (LUCC) of which Summit Free Public Library is a member. Susan Permahos, the Director of the Summit Free Public Library, is spearheading this initiative and, for more information about the Drive, call her at 908-273-0350, ext. 811, or contact suepermahos@summitlibrary.org.
