SUMMIT, NJ - The Summit PBA has established a GoFundMe page to assist Officer Anthony Pyzik and his family, with funds benefiting the Pyziks while he recovers from injuries incurred in the line of duty on April 21. As of publication -- and, within hours of being established -- the page had already generated $12,465, exceeding its starter goal of $10,000.

Pyzik, a three-year member of the Summit Police Department, was assisting a neighboring jurisdiction who were pursuing a stolen motor vehicle, traveling wast on Morris Avenue when the suspect vehicle traveling east on Morris Avenue crossed the center line and collided head-on with his police vehicle causing extensive damage to both vehicles.

Officer Pyzik -- who received lacerations to the head requiring 15 stitches and will require surgery to repair femur, hip and wrist fractures -- was transported by the Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad to the trauma center at Morristown Medical Center where he was, as of this morning, listed in serious but stable condition.
