SUMMIT, NJ - Softball Team player Gianna  Acitelli and Baseball's Will Gibson have been named Summit High School Athletes of the Week, presented by TAPinto Summit, for the week ending May 13.

Each week throughout the school athletic year, an athlete or athletes will be honored for distinguishing themselves in the arena of competition, in the classroom, and for demonstrating exemplary, Hilltopper-caliber sportsmanship and leadership qualities.

Sophomore Acitelli had what would be considered a great month in just seven days' time, going 10-16 at 'the dish' with two doubles, a pair of triples, a 'dinger', and seven RBI. She also scored six runs.

She went 3-3 in the Maroon and White's 18-7 drubbing of Union Catholic, which gave Summit the Union County Conference - Valley Division title. On the season, she is batting at an incredible .406 clip.

Acitelli improved her batting average to .406.

Gibson threw a great game on the mound against Westfield, the senior's gritty, 88-pitch effort over 5 1/3 innings as the catalyst for Summit's 7-5 victory, which gave the Hilltopper 'Boys of Spring' their first 'W' over the Blue Devils in more than a decade.
